One of the AML trends he discussed is where virtual currency exchangers and bitcoin mixers conspire with criminals, and cybercriminals in particular, using virtual currencies to process the proceeds of their illicit activity. Instead of directly transmitting bitcoin between two bitcoin addresses, the mixer disassociates connections in a manner designed to conceal and obfuscate the source or owner of the bitcoin.
